On 30 September 2026, the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) notified the member countries of the Paris Convention for the Protection of Industrial Property of the Chinese and English names, English abbreviation and emblem of the International Mangrove Center (IMC). These official signs were also formally published in the Article 6ter Express Database.
Article 6ter of the Paris Convention for the Protection of Industrial Property provides protection for State emblems and the names, abbreviations and emblems of intergovernmental organizations. It aims to prevent their unauthorized registration and use as trademarks.
This publication marks an important step in strengthening the protection of the IMC's official signs. It will help regulate their use, safeguard the IMC's legitimate rights and interests, and enhance its international recognition.
