On July 26, 2026, the Secretariat Building of the International Mangrove Center was officially inaugurated and put into operation in Shenzhen. As the permanent premises of the International Mangrove Center, the building supports the Secretariat’s day-to-day operations and provides facilities for international conferences, professional training programs, and other activities. It serves as a key hub for advancing global mangrove conservation, international cooperation and knowledge exchange.
The Secretariat Building is located at the intersection of Mangrove Road and Baishi Road, Shatou Subdistrict, Futian District, Shenzhen, directly opposite the Futian Mangrove Nature Reserve. With a total floor area of approximately 3,000 square meters, the building comprises 3 storeys.
Conceived within a contemporary architectural framework and designed to reflect the character of an international organization, the Secretariat Building draws inspiration from Eastern aesthetic, Lingnan cultural heritage, and Shenzhen's local climatic conditions. It creates a globally oriented environment for work, dialogue, and exchange, while retaining a distinctive Eastern and Lingnan character. The inner courtyard comprises three meticulously landscaped gardens—the Stone Garden, the Fern Garden, and the Moss Garden—each crafted in the refined tradition of Lingnan garden art.
