Prof. Bao Daming, Director General of the IMC Interim Secretariat, extended a warm welcome to the visiting delegation and briefed them on the IMC's development progress and operations. He noted that the conservation and restoration of mangroves require innovative technologies and the participation of multiple stakeholders. Drones have broad application prospects in mangrove monitoring, disaster warning, and fire prevention and control. He reaffirmed the IMC's commitment to working closely with Wanfeng and other partners to jointly carry out mangrove conservation and restoration projects and initiatives, contributing to the global cause of mangrove conservation.
Dr. Liu Jianping introduced Wanfeng's work during the meeting. He noted that Wanfeng owns the intellectual property for many aircraft models and runs manufacturing, training, and R&D facilities globally, with a presence in more than 90 countries. He observed that drone technology is naturally aligned with mangrove conservation. Leveraging the IMC as an international platform, Wanfeng can introduce its drone products, training systems, and AI control technologies to IMC member countries, delivering an integrated solution from monitoring, aerial surveying and patrol systems to mangrove restoration and long-term ecosystem management.
Following the meeting, both sides visited the Guangdong Neilingding Futian National Nature Reserve to discuss on-site drone applications for mangrove monitoring, disaster warning, and daily management. They exchanged views on further cooperation, and agreed to jointly explore technology-enabled pathways for the science-based protection and sustainable development of global mangrove ecosystems, with a view to establishing a model for innovation-driven conservation partnership.
